Should i see hunger games
So when I heard that a Hunger Games prequel book , The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes , was being released on May 19, I decided to go back and rewatch the films so I was fully up to speed. Here's what I found revisiting the series as an adult. View On One Page. Photo 0 of 5.
Previous Next Start Slideshow. The Hunger Games Nostalgia Movies. Watch offline. Available to download. This movie is Suspenseful, Exciting. More Like This. Coming Soon. New World. The violence really depends on the person watching the movie, I am a gore fan and love graphic kills, so this movie might not be that violent.
But there are some people that are more sensitive to blood or gore than others are and they might not like it, and that's ok. If you're child thinks they can handle it then warn them what is in the movie and let them watch it but if they find they can't handle it then you can turn it off. Great movie, may be intense for younger viewers. The Hunger Games is a great movie based on a great book. It is very entertaining, but if you really want to understand it well, I suggest you read the book, as it has a lot more detail.
As far as violence goes, there is quiet a lot of fighting as this is what the movie is about. The main character, Katniss, is burned by a fireball and there is a wound on her leg that is briefly shown. There is fighting with knives and hand-to-hand combat, but it is not gory violence.
There is no swearing or use of drugs, however, Haymitch is shown drinking liquor in a few scenes. There are a few kissing scenes but no sex or making out. The concept of the movie and the many deaths make this movie intense and younger viewers under 12's, mainly may be scared or frightened. The bottom line: Watch this movie and decide if your child can handle it.
It depends on how mature they are, but I would recommend it to 11 and over. Read my mind 2. Great The hunger games movie is amazingly every aspect. The movie stays true to the book, with its promotion of sending the messages 'be yourself' and 'standing up for what's right'.
The movie contains various themes of moderate violence, drinking, some romance, but overall sends strong messages to the audience, mostly younger people and if you are thinking of seeing it you will be not be disappointed. Teen, 13 years old Written by qwerty8me March 23, The Hunger Games First of all, this is an utterly fantastic movie. The acting is superb, the effects were great, and over all, it was a great adaption. Many people are worried that it's too violent for tweens.
I've scrolled through the reviews on this site, and they're crazy. NOT for kids! What I noticed while seeing it on opening night is that you never really see any weapons enter the body of another person. Except for once. You just hear a scream, and a body fall. Let's see. It was dark and the camera was shaky and you didn't really see Cato at all. Iffy violent scenes in order of most violent to least: 1. Tracker Jackers 2. Rue 3. Cato 4. Cornucopia Other than this, it's just some injuries and such.
Now that this violence is cleared up, you really need to get going. You're going to miss your showing. Be amazed. Have some laughs.
Have fun. Definitely not PG, nor R I was 11 when I first watched this, I absolutely loved it and was so eager to read and watch the rest of the series with my older brother who also loves it.
Peeta and Katniss, you can tell they have a small relationship. Katniss kisses Peeta twice, once on the lips, and they flirt mildly. Peeta calls Katniss his girlfriend and when P and K kiss, a kid named Gale is obviously jealous. Language: Nothing big.
Violence and scariness: Quite violent, kids kill other kids with weapons, blood is only visible for a few deaths.
Kids die and just when everyone starts to fight, a kid gets slaughtered by a curved blade quick, probably the most violent part. A girl dies because she used a fire to stay warm, which gave away her spot. Last thing I have to mention is Cracker Jackers.
They are almost like a hornet that can give you hallucinations or death. Katniss cuts down a branch where a nest of those live. It shatters and kills a girl, they show the dead body with the bumps and that is kind of scary. Thank you! Kid, 10 years old July 26, Mature enough I watched this movie with my mother and I loved it!
It is action packed with a bit of romance in between. I think that you have to be 11 or up, but I am pretty sure mature kids will understand.
The concept of the movie might give sensitive children some nightmares. There is some kissing, a bit of drinking and quite a lot of violence. Best summarized from a line in the film, "just think of them as the other animals you hunt". Our kids deserve better role models and higher quality food for thought. Had useful details 2. Adult Written by Kballew March 24, The Hunger Games This movie was really wonderful, the books were more violent than the movie was.
I think the content of this movie is appropriate for kids 12 and up. The only reason I have for that is because the violence, there is just so much killing going on.
I don't think children under the age of 12 can handle it. Other than that, the movie was wonderful. It had really good positive messages on respect and family. The best role model was of course Katniss. Katniss is so strong, a fighter for her family and she didn't ever seem to want to become violent.
Once someone she cares about though passes away, you can see her start to become even more of a fighter in the Hunger Games.
Thats the way I viewed the movie. If you plan on taking your children under the age of 12, I suggest talking to them about the movie first and the violence. I honestly believe if their younger than 12 and are mature for their age, they could probably handle it. Helped me decide. Adult Written by Alina Ryu July 24, Became One of My Favorite Movies After Watching The Hunger Games The Hunger Games was the first movie sequel that genuinely touched me even though it included all the components that I did not enjoy that much in the movie regularly: guns, uproar, explosion, blood, and so many tragic deaths of innocent people.
Because I did not have much to do in hotels for months staying in Korea, waiting for getting permission to fly to Vietnam for my next journey, I searched the title on Netflix and just watched it while I was brushing my teeth; it was my habit actually, to play any random video only while I was brushing my teeth.
The point is I could not let every scene proceed. I had to press the stop button with my wet hand and go back to my bed to watch it from the beginning, so carefully. At first, I did not know what really seizured me to do this. As I kept watching it until the final sequel, I finally understood. The humanity was the thing that touched my heart so forcefully which Katniss showed it so well. It eventually resulted in me wiping my eyes to hide the fact that I was crying in the middle of the crowded cafe, alone.
I had believed that the last sequel of any story would be its worst version and the ending would be not satisfying since I got to watch some movies in my life. The Hunger Games: Final changed my mind, of course. It was the best ending for me that I could not complain about any detail of the story at all.
The last scene where Katniss was holding her infant, looking at her husband, so pure yet fragile Peeta, who was also taking care of their other older child, it was just so beautiful to see.
I fully enjoyed having the wonderful story end blissfully. I hope to myself that I will remember this moment which would be so important in my life to remind myself that caring for others is so meaningful. Thank you, The Hunger Games, you taught me so much about life.
Read my mind 1. Adult Written by danny April 5, The Hunger games is not for little kids i think the Hunger games is a amazing movie but its not for little kids because its very vilonte and disturbing kattnas tries to stab her mentor in the hand with a knife and lots of people get killed in the arena theirs a very sad death scene where a little girl dies by getting stabbed in the chest with a arrow people snap other peoples necks and theirs lots of blood kattnas and pita cut their legs very bad and people are seen with lots of blood all over their face and chest and katnass and pitas mentor is a drunk with that being said i dont reccomend the Hunger games for anybody under the age of Had useful details 3.
Read my mind. Parent of a 8-year-old Written by nhdadoftween January 1, Had useful details. Adult Written by Alemary April 13, Long film Two and a half hours of my life I won't get back. I'm not the target age group so don't take much notice of this review! Didn't feel connected to the characters so unconcerned when they died.
Not wholly comfortable with watching kids killing kids scenes. Is this the best we can do for the next generation? Adult Written by movienerd78 March 22, Teens are forced kill other teens, however that is not the main focus of the film and deaths happen briefly or offscreen. Haymitch is drunk most of the time. In an overpowered America the Capitol has control.
Katniss is a good role model and everyone in the arena well almost everyone knows it's wrong to kill each other yet is forced. I took my 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son to this movie and they both loved it, my son didn't mind the violence and knew that it is wrong to kill each other.
Everybody needs to relax as this is what America could become and it's not too violent. The Hunger Games gives something to think about and a positive message to preteens and teens.
