Resonance of fate how long to beat

Noticeably lacks anti-aliasing, but otherwise looks great for its time. The music is pretty good too with some orchestral pieces and some Western-style tracks. The main crew have their own personalities and bicker, but nothing really happened to promote character growth so far. There are many wacky nobles you meet over the course of a few chapters that are intended to be comically absurd with their personalities.

The writers seemed to really like pervey jokes and gags since they are in many cutscenes, often as the focus of the scene. Some interesting religious discussion, discourse with the nobles, and philosophical topics were teased, but most of it is told in a cutscene here and there between many hours of battles. The main problem with Resonance of Fate is how repetitious it is. The battle system is interesting and takes a few hours to get used to, but after that it does not evolve too much other than changing battle strategy slightly for some situations and increasing stats to keep up with the difficulty increases.

Battles play out more or less the same with about 3 things you normally do over and over. No new mechanics are introduced beyond the rather poor tutorial and the party members and all function the exactly the same other than a random skill they learn after some level ups.

The side bits of gameplay, placing tiles on a map and weapon customization, are interesting, but getting tiles requires fighting more battles and early on you run out of new weapon parts to equip with maybe a new part or two per chapter that is slightly better than what you had before.

Honestly, the game got rather boring to keep playing at the 14 hour mark and I thought looking up the cutscenes and story summary would have been more satisfying than forcing my way through the game and trying to keep my stats high enough to progress to the next cutscene.

User Info: Ultimagamer. Not too sure about the length, since I'm in the process of playing this currently. I'm on Chapter 5, with about 24 hours put in so far. From what I've heard so far on this board, this game has chapters, or so. This is a relatively heavy strategy game, which some players enjoy, others not so much. No comment on the story, as it hasn't picked up yet, but the battle system has kept me entertained so far.

If you can still bleed, you can feel pain. If you can feel pain, you are still alive. Concentrate on that pain, and use it as your focus.
