Who is deputy dog

At the ripe mature age of 17, I found that even though I had grown up a bit, I still enjoyed Deputy Dawg every bit as much as I did when I was growing up! It was such a wonderfully ridiculous cartoon that was so wonderfully "rural" with the drawl and the background hillbilly music! They sure don't make 'em like that anymore. Such a shame! When i was about 8 years old my father bought me and my brothers a video of Deputy Dawg. I remember he had some sidekick who i think was some kind of blind beaver and he used to say "its possible, its possible, its possible The only episode that sticks out in my mind is when they had a "do-it-yourself" speedboat delivered and just remember laughing so hard watching it.

Im sure if it was played on T. I used to watch Deputy Dawg cartoons on the Hobo Kelly Show in the early 60's in Los Angeles and it remains one of my favorite cartoons of all time. I'll try to answer some of the questions posed by the other reviewers and clear up a few misconceptions.

First of all, the cartoon was not from the 50's. It ran from to The character who said "It's possible. It's possible" was Muskie Muskrat. As its main concentration of stations were in the south, many saw it as a metaphor of the end days of segregation and Jim Crow laws. Deputy Dawg, first a pale blue-gray then pure white—was the avatar of Caucasian police, and Muskie, painted brown, was the African-American trying to outwit him.

Even when Deputy Dawg made live appearances an actor in a suit , audiences in those locales were segregated. Still, the show netted its sponsor, Lay's Potato Chips, a nice revenue windfall. It ran just that season. They were bootleg copies but the quality was quite good, especially considering the series was made fifty years ago. A complete remastered box set would be awesome!
